Toney, a former Ambassador of St Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Nations, is a former student and teacher of the CAS, and has often visited and delivered tangible gifts to the school. He handed over the trophies on Friday, November 13, during General Assembly.
These trophies will be awarded to Grade 6 pupils who excel in their Common Entrance Exams in 2010. They will be presented to individual pupils at Graduation, come June 2010.
Also present at the handing over was Archdeacon Dr Sylvanus Regisford who blessed both the gifts and giver.
John Roberts, a 83-year-old resident of Sandy Bay, was welcomed to the handing over of the trophies. Roberts is a family, friend of the Toney family, especially to the late Festus Toney who was laid to rest on Monday, November 2.
Yvette Bowens, the schoolâs headteacher, expressed her sincere gratitude and appreciation to the entire Toney family. Similarly, she beseeched her Grade six pupils to work towards excellence so that they could be counted worthy of the trophies received.
The Calliaqua Anglican School had a student in the top ten in last yearâs C.E.E.
