The Youth Empowerment Service (YES) Programme of St. Vincent and the Grenadines was on showcase in Mexico from November 4 to 6, 2009, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.{{more}}

The local YES programme was featured as a result of being awarded a best practice in youth policies and programmes in Latin America and the Caribbean in September this year.

Following news of the award, Youth Officer Carlos Williams was invited to present information on the programme at a high level forum convened specially for the 31 winners from among some 300 entries from Latin American and Caribbean territories. The high level forum also discussed youth, employment, poverty reduction, sexual and productive health, youth participation, youth volunteer work as a tool for development, integral youth development, education and prevention of youth violence in relation to youth.

Support for the best practice awards came from UNESCO, BID, CEPAL,CYP,eclac ILO, OAS, UNFPA, PAHO, UNICEF,UNV, along with non governmental, governmental and local organisations.
