Chamber working closer with Ministry of Trade

The Ministry of Trade and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce are to work more closely together as this country prepares to engage in upcoming trade negotiations involving the public and private sectors.{{more}}

The two parties met this morning (Tuesday) for preliminary discussions on forthcoming CARICOM/Canada trade negotiations and to look at the status of the Coalition of Service Industries, which is still to get off the ground.

The meeting agreed that the parties will continue to meet on a monthly basis to strengthen and maintain the public-private sector partnership and to have a broad-based approach to trade negotiations in the future. The next meeting is scheduled for December 8.

This morning’s meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade – Andreas Wickham, Director of Trade – Clarence Harry, and other Trade officials, as well as the Executive Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce – Shaffia London.
