The activities have been organised to help create awareness of diabetes and its complications, and to remember the millions of people who are suffering from the disease.
The fitness walk is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., from Petit Bordel to Troumaca and back. Immediately upon the return of the walkers, an exhibition and a cultural rally will be held at the school grounds.
The rally will highlight creative, health-related performances from students and is also expected to feature the Chateaubelair/Petit Bordel Diabetes and Hypertensive Group.
These activities are a part of the World Diabetes Foundation/Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute Lifestyle Intervention Project – a pilot project that seeks to examine and promote healthy lifestyle habits among secondary school students. Petit Bordel Secondary School is one of four secondary schools involved in this project.
Tomorrow is World Diabetes Day.
