Hortex 2009 for UWI Open Campus

HORTEX 2009, the Independence Exhibition of the SVG Horticultural Society will take place at the Open Campus of the University of the West Indies, Murray’s Road, Kingstown, this weekend, October 24 and 25, under the theme “Sustaining our gardens through climate change”.{{more}}

The Exhibition is open to all and has as its objectives: to make the public aware of the skills and creativity of our people in floral design; to encourage people to appreciate the beauty of our country; to encourage people to become interested in Horticulture and of the work of the SVG Horticultural Society.

Exhibits will be in the following categories: potted plants, dried arrangements specimens of cut flowers, hanging baskets, ferns, herbs, cacti and succulents, fresh floral arrangements topiary, ikhebana, African violets and orchids. A number of business houses will also display their products.

The Exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10.00 a.m. to 6 p.m.
