Although disappointed about losing an eye in a cutlass attack almost one month ago, Kingstown Park resident Michael ‘Tuff’ Pierre is grateful that he is still around to see another day.{{more}}

“I very, very hurt, but I still happy to be alive. I feel kind ah way that I lose the eye, but life goes on,” Pierre shared as he sat down with SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday.

On Friday, August 14th, this year, Pierre was attacked while playing dominoes at a shop in his village. He had got into an argument with another patron of the shop minutes before the attack.

The incident saw Pierre receiving three chops to his head and face, causing him to lose his left eye.

Kingstown Park resident Swann Nichols has been charged with the unlawful and malicious wounding of Pierre. He has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prisons and is scheduled to return to court next month.

Pierre indicated that he has no hard feelings towards his attacker, whom he has known since they were children. He, however, said he is looking forward to justice being served.

“I never expect anything like this to happen to me. I want justice done, because the same if I did do the crime, they would want justice for me,” the labourer stated.

Pierre is now recuperating at home after spending ten days at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

He said he tries to remain optimistic despite his injuries and is looking forward to life returning to as normal as is possible, as soon as possible. (JJ)
