The BCCU awarded eight successful students at the common entrance level with six bursaries and for the second year two scholarships. President Camella Holder congratulated the students and wished them continued success in secondary school and encouraged them to work hard to achieve their goals. She also encouraged the students to continue saving with their Youth Comprehensive Fund.
The bursary recipients are Orian Samuel, Zamel Bulze, Oâsini Lewis, Makellia Gurley whose parents are members; Keresha Chambers and Bianca Creese from the Youth Comprehensive Fund and Aleon Anderson and Jemima Anderson, who are also from the Youth Comprehensive Fund. The Scholarship recipients were awarded five-year scholarships, once they keep their academic grades up to standard. Students who are not part of the Junior Saver Fund were also granted membership of the Fund.
The students were encouraged by other speakers at the awards ceremony to make the best use of the time they spend at Secondary School and see it as the steppingstone to further educational opportunities. They were also reminded that it is a hard task for parents to give them the best education that is being offered and as children, their thank you would be for them to strive for excellence.
Louann Samuel, a parent of a scholarship recipient, thanked the Credit Union for the interest it is showing in their children, and as a parent encouraged all the parents to show as much interest as they can in their children. She also encouraged the children to continue studying to achieve their goals.
