Venol âFat Manâ Mars is expected to be laid to rest at the Dumbarton Cemetery, following a funeral service at the Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Mesopotamia.
Last Saturday, August 15th, the Exclusive Sounds longstanding crew member lost his battle with a serious case of pneumonia, after being hospitalized at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for close to two weeks.
Mars, a member of the Exclusive Sounds crew for more than 18 years, was described by group front man Kirby âDonovanâ Crick as the heart and soul of the unit.
Crick described his close friend as a no nonsense, humble individual, who would make sure that âeverything setâ from mobilizing the groupâs sound system, to equipment repairs and assisting with the bookings, among other things.
Speaking to Fat Manâs mother Jennifer Mars and long time girlfriend Bethany âFairâ Scott, both expressed shock at his unexpected passing, saying that they thought he would have pulled through the illness, because of his strong will and determination.
The older Mars also described her 31-year-old first born son as a kind and loving person who looked out for his family and friends.
Scott, the mother of Marsâ seven-year-old daughter Kadi, indicated that she was trying to cope with the loss the best that she could.
She remembers the entertainer as a caring and loving parent and soul mate.
On Wednesday night, DJs, artistes and other persons who came into contact with the veteran entertainer over the years held a moving send off for him at one of his favorite venues: Chappiesâ Riverside in Marriaqua, where Mars had lived all his life.
His life was celebrated with toasts and music dedicated in his memory.(JJ)
