Eleven year olds: Radika Raguette, Erin Stephen and Rae Dawn Abbott join 12 other students who are currently pursuing secondary and post secondary education on SVGPA scholarships at various secondary schools and the SVG Community College.
On Wednesday, the girls, accompanied by their fathers, who are employees of the SVGPA, were congratulated by Operations Manager Bishen John, who filled in for General Manager Paul Kirby at the companyâs conference room.
John said that the scholarship, which was renamed two years ago in honour of the SVGPAâs longstanding board member, is another way in which the company extends assistance to its employees.
He urged the students, who will all be attending the Girlsâ High School at the beginning of the new school year, to make the most of the opportunity and to make the Authority proud.
The scholarship, which is initially of five years duration, has an optional two year incentive if the recipient advances to the Technical or Community College.
John hinted that the authority is exploring the possibility of offering university scholarships to children of its employees in the near future.
The fathers of the girls: Fitzroy Raguette, Earl Fergusson and Dwayne Abbott expressed appreciation to their employer
for the scholarships and vowed to ensure that their daughters do their best at school.
A luncheon and motivational lecture is scheduled to take place for the 15 awardees and the Authority at the beginning of the school year. (JJ)
