The event is being staged at the Peace Memorial Hall by the Overcomers Jewels for Jesus, a non-denominational organization headed by Donner Richards and Judith Jordan-Tucker.

Richards told SEARCHLIGHT that she and Jordan-Tucker are seeking to orient the nation’s children into gospel music.

The coordinators of the event, which is in its fifth year, are optimistic that this year will be better than previous years.

“Children will be getting the opportunity to display their talent, and we will be featuring a number of guest artistes,” said Richards, adding that efforts are being made to get as many parents as possible involved, as well as persons from all spiritual backgrounds.

The programme will be held in three categories: six to eight age group, nine to twelve, and 13 to 15. The most outstanding participant will receive a prize of $200, along with other gifts that include school supplies and a trophy. Other top participants will also be presented with a trophy and school supplies. All trophies will be kept by the participants for a period of one year.

“Our ultimate goal is to praise and magnify God,” Richards emphasized.(HN)
