Ambassador Lee donates to Mental Health Centre
Patients of the Mental Health Centre are the recipients of new sporting equipment to assist with their treatment and rehabilitation.{{more}}
On July 23, the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Leo LEE, handed over a new set of table tennis equipment to the centre, including a table, rackets, nets and balls.
At the handover ceremony, he emphasized that health, medical and humanitarian aids are the main goals of Taiwanâs foreign aid policy. He hoped that more exercise and activities will benefit the patients. Finally, Ambassador Lee played with the representative player of the centre to formally hand over the equipment to the center.
In her welcome remarks, Sister Ynolde Smart, the senior nursing officer in charge of the centre, expressed her appreciation on behalf of all patients and staff. She stated that the centre will make good use of the equipment.
Sister Smart also thanked the Taiwan Technical Mission for its assistance in establishing a new vegetable garden for the patients. The Chief of the Mission, Mr. Chin-Yu LEE, said that the Mission offered compost, vegetable plantlets, fruit plantlets and fresh fruits for the patients. He expressed the hope that the patients will become vegetable gardeners.
