Taiwan donates to the SVGCC
The Division of Technical and Vocational Education of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College now has a desktop computer for use in its automotive repair simulation laboratory.{{more}}
On June 25, 2009, Ambassador Leo Lee of the Republic of China on Taiwan handed over the computer and a photocopier to the Division at its graduation ceremony. The equipment was received by Chief Education Officer Susan Dougan on behalf of the Division.
According to a release from the Taiwanese Embassy, the Technical and Vocational Division plans to establish a simulation laboratory for its Automotive Repair Program. The purpose of simulation laboratory is to mimic the functioning of automotive parts through the use of computer programs.
During the hand-over, Ambassador Lee emphasized the importance of vocational education, saying the graduates of the Technical and Vocational Division will be the backbone of the countryâs industrial and economic development. Ambassador Lee also promised continued support for the countryâs technical and vocational education.
