Consular Corps to be formed in SVG

A Consular Corps Association may soon be established in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

This is one of the decisions taken at a meeting on Tuesday, June 30th involving Honorary Consuls representing various countries here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade.{{more}}

Yesterday’s meeting was called by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss with the Honorary Consuls, new guidelines governing the relationship between the Consular Officers, the Ministry and other State agencies.

The meeting agreed that a Consular Corps Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines would facilitate the business, social and cultural interaction among the Consular representatives themselves and with local authorities.

The opportunity was also taken at yesterday’s meeting, to discuss the participation of countries represented, in “Vincy Homecoming 2009”, particularly in relation to “International Day” on October 24th, which will feature a Cultural Extravaganza and an Arts and Crafts Display.

Some thirteen (13) countries are represented here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the Consular level.
