Backed by the band Hottsand, the versatile vocalist performed tracks from the new album, which includes four new songs: title track âAddictedâ, âPlease Tell Meâ, âChangeâ and âYouâre Amazingâ.
The album also contains two songs which were released in 2008 and five remixes, bringing the total number of tracks to eleven.
The songs, new and old, were well received by patrons at the bar, who came out in support of one of the more popular artistes on the local scene.
The 48-year-old bard, who had previously worked with soca artistes âIconâ and âAlla-Gâ on his debut album, indicated that the newest effort is without collaborations, with the exception of a guest appearance by legendary jazz guitarist Ronald âBooâ Hinkson on âYouâre Amazingâ.
Originally from the Grenadine island of Bequia, the father of three, who had been plying his trade as a musician on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line until as recently as 2004, said that he would like to work along with people like Zolah, Kevin Little, Full Clip and Troots ân Ice on the local scene, and if he had his way, a duet with Lionel Richie would also be on the list.
A former member of the band Touch, James indicated that he expected the album to do well, given the current music, and said that plans to tour and promote the album are still in their early stages.(JJ)
