Improved bathroom facilities for St. Mary’s RC School

The St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School will have improved toilet facilities for the upcoming school year 2009/2010.

On June 10, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Social Investment Fund (SVGSIF) to implement the project. The signing was done during a PTA meeting hosted by the school.{{more}}

SIF will contribute EC$50,000 to the project which has a total cost of over EC$100,000. The state, private sector and the PTA will meet the additional cost of the project.

The school will close one week earlier for the extended end of term break to facilitate the start of the project. It is expected to be completed for the beginning of the school year.

Headteacher of the school, Sister Ivy Pacheco, thanked SIF for its assistance.

She said: “I am truly grateful that at this time we can have this project coming on stream.”

The firm Gibson Construction was contracted to do the project.
