FCIB Unsung Heroes expect more nominees than ever

With just over two weeks to go before nominations close, Local Coordinator of the FirstCaribbean International Bank’s Unsung Heroes program Aliethea Jackson says that she expects a wider range of nominees and possibly another regional winner this year.{{more}}

Jackson, speaking exclusively to SEARCHLIGHT said that apart from aggressive promotion this year, the Welcome Home reception for the 2008 regional winner Veolant Cupid has raised awareness of the program, which is in its sixth year in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Mrs. Cupid had helped bring visibility to the program, and our 2009 campaign, which includes newspaper and radio interviews, advertisements, posters and other types of publicity is having far reaching effects.”

“Each year the program continues to grow and we continue to receive more nominations than before. This year, I expect will be no exception,” Jackson said.

Recently, bank staff, including members of the local judging panel conducted a cross country whistle stop, which saw flyers and nomination forms distributed in communities on the leeward, windward and interior of mainland St. Vincent.

According to Jackson, the exercise proved successful, with a number of nominations being returned to the bank’s office at Halifax Street since.

Nominations can be collected at the bank or online at (www.firstcaribbeanbank.com).

Deadline for nominations is July 6th, with the local winner being announced in October and the regional winner in November.

Jackson expressed confidence that the more nominations submitted, the greater the chance of the best person being selected on the local level, who can take the regional title.

“Having four out of five local heroes who made it on the regional scene; two of whom were regional winners and two runners-up, indicates that we have some great people in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I’m sure that we have not discovered them all.”(JJ)
