The campaign, which began on June 1, includes a detailed leaflet with important hurricane tips and guidelines which will be distributed free of cost to customers. The bi-fold leaflet will also include a hurricane tracking map, the names of the 2009 hurricanes and special offers from LIME. Public Service Announcements and interviews will also form part of the education and awareness campaign during the hurricane season.
âOver the last few years, we have demonstrated that we have the most reliable and dependable network in the Caribbean. We continue to make significant investments in our network to ensure its robustness and resiliency during this critical season. We understand the importance of keeping the communication lines open in times of crisis,â assured LIMEâs Chief Executive Officer Richard Dodd. He added that LIMEâs network supremacy has been tried and tested in many of the islands, with LIME being the only network still standing after severe weather conditions.
âHere in St.Vincent and the Grenadines we have been spared any direct hit from any major storms in recent times, but we urge all citizens to listen to all official releases from the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) and to take all necessary precautions during the season,â said Angus Steele Country Manager.
In preparation for the 2009 Hurricane season, LIMEâs staff has just concluded a two-day hurricane simulation exercise to test key areas of LIMEâs Crisis Management and Hurricane Response plans. The exercise was performed across two LIME businesses, namely Jamaica and the British Virgin Islands. Following the successful completion of the hurricane simulation, Executive Vice President of Technology Dave Newbold confirmed that LIME is ready for this yearâs hurricane season.
