During the months of July and August, Indigo Dive will be offering young people the opportunity to gain a new perspective of the ocean by attending ‘SCUBA’ summer school.

‘Indigo Dive has been in business for 5 years, and it has always been my goal to provide a program to enable young people to get better acquainted with our ocean and the life that inhabits it, whilst gaining an insight into our marine business sector!’ says Kay Wilson, founder of Indigo Dive.

‘The youth of St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be the future leaders and decision makers of this country. Each and every young person has the ability to directly affect the future of our environment. Therefore, it is important that they have an understanding of the ways in which the ocean contributes to the on going success and livelihood of our nation’.

Each week long Scuba Summer School session is aimed at young people, 14 years and older, although anyone over the minimum age is eligible to participate! Each Summer School Student will receive PADI Open Water Scuba Diver training, which includes class room theory, safety training, equipment management and maintenance, confined water skills practice and scuba diving excursions along the south and leeward coasts of St. Vincent.

Also included within the Scuba Summer School is a review of basic first aid, in water rescue training, and the opportunity to get hands on boat management practice, all under the watchful eyes of PADI Instructors and Dive Masters.

Everything needed by the participant is included in the cost of the course, including mask, fins and wetsuit rental, as well as a light lunch, break time snacks and soft drinks.

The classes are small, a maximum 4 participants per instructor, and each participant will receive certification and a graduation ceremony on successful completion of the course.
