Vincentian educator implicated in New York car theft ring

Lisle Jackson, a 54-year-old Vincentian residing in Brooklyn, New York, will appear at the Queens County Supreme Court on May 14, 2009, to answer charges related to his alleged involvement in a car theft ring busted by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Queens District Attorney’s Organized Crime and Rackets Bureau.{{more}}

Meris Campbell of the Queens District Attorney’s Office confirmed this on Wednesday, May 6th, 2009, when SEARCHLIGHT contacted her office on the matter.

According to Campbell, Jackson was arrested last week and slapped with charges of criminal possession of stolen property in the third and fourth degree and conspiracy in the fifth degree.

He was released on bail in his own care and will face up to seven years imprisonment if convicted.

Jackson, formerly of Arnos Vale, is the Vice Principal of Middle School 61 (the Gladstone H. Atwell School) in Brooklyn with an annual salary, according to the New York Daily News, totalling US$96,405. He has been reassigned pending the outcome of his case.

Jackson was arrested with 8 others on charges involving the theft of 16 late model, high end vehicles with a value of US$500,000, mostly from dealership parking lots in Queens County and elsewhere. The North Country Gazette stated that some of the vehicles, the majority of which were 2008 models and included expensive BMWs,

Mercedes Benzs and Lincolns, allegedly had their vehicle identification numbers changed or altered before being resold for US$2,500 to US$3,500 each.
