In what has been billed as gospel’s biggest night and an occasion for glitz and glamour, the much anticipated event will see some 25 awards being presented for outstanding performances during the festival.

The SVG Gospel Awards which come at the end of SVG Gospel Fest are based on performances during the month long festival held annually during April that includes the zonal and national showcases.

Among the awards to be presented are 9 in music, 3 in dance, 7 in drama and 6 achievement awards. The winners are determined by the 17-member Gospel Fest Committee with three nominations in each category. Persons being awarded will receive trophies and special gift packages from the various sponsors of the festival.

Among the most eagerly anticipated announcements for the night will be the ones for most outstanding dance group with very strong performances from 2008 winner KLT Dancers, Kara and Super Kidz; most outstanding Solo over 19 singer which features Lindy Joanna Cordice up against Shunnell Nedd and Juile Rogers; most outstanding solo in the under 13 age group with Trizana Atkins, Daniella Richards and jewel Cordice in close contention. With the possibility of representing St. Vincent and the Grenadines at a regional gospel festival, the award for most outstanding performance of the festival is expected to generate the most excitement.

With over 75 nominations and some very outstanding performances, it is difficult to predict winners in the various categories which add to the overall appeal of the night.

The SVG Gospel Awards which will be aired live on radio and television will also include addresses from Gospel Fest Chairman Fidel Taylor, corporate sponsors and the Hon. Rene Baptiste, Minister of Culture.

The event will be complimented by a variety of performances in dance, song and drama from some of the nominated persons including Voices of Victory, Trizana Atkins, Testimony, Heritage Dancers and Chelcia Ferdinand.

SVG Gospel Fest is being celebrated under the theme: “Rejoice in the Lord”.
