Centre for Enterprise Development opens Chateaubelair Satellite Office

The Centre for Enterprise Development (CED) now has a satellite office in Chateaubelair.

The CED’s first outreach office was opened on Thursday, April 23rd, witnessed by more than 20 entrepreneurs who gathered on the Chateaubelair waterfront under a large tent for the ceremony.{{more}}

Opening remarks were made by Charmane Tappin-John the project coordinator of the ICT Development Programme Special Framework of Assistance 2005.

Delivering the feature address, Minister of Telecommunications, Science and Technology and area representative Dr Jerrol Thompson said that Chateaubelair was not chosen for the first satellite office because he is minister of Trade and Industry, the ministry under which CED operates, but because of the business potential that is recognized in the communities of North Leeward. Thompson also listed the many waterfalls and other natural and heritage attractions that abound in the area.

Brief remarks were also made by Irina Nunbueger, team leader, Business Skills Development and E-incubator; Melene Glynn, Director of the Organization of American States (OAS) office in SVG and Felix Lewis, Manager of the CED.

Although the ceremony took place on the waterfront, the satellite office is located on Barracks Road, opposite the police station, on the second floor of the building that formerly housed the public library.

After the cutting of the ribbon, visitors were given a tour of the facility, which has a permanent staff of two: Business Consultant Adonel Stapleton and Yolanda Samuel who is the Office Manager. The hub will offer technical assistance, business advice, library and IT services to entrepreneurs in the area. (AC)
