Minister donates furniture, medical aids

On Tuesday, April 21, René Baptiste, Minister of Culture and Urban Development donated a quantity of furniture and medical aids to several individuals and two primary schools. These include: two wheelchairs, one stroller, eighteen plastic chairs, one walker and a pair of crutches.{{more}}

The first recipient, Inola Charles, Headteacher, Kingstown Government School, was presented with twelve plastic chairs which she had requested. She thanked the minister for keeping her promise in providing waiting chairs for the school.

According to Minister Baptiste, it is a pleasure to help those in need. She also that as soon as the requests are made she does her best to get them filled. Minister Baptiste stated that she has a special place in her heart for the elderly and children. She urged recipients to take care of these donations.

Headteacher of the Lowmans Leeward Anglican School, Venda Smith also received six plastic chairs. She thanked the Minister for her generous donation on behalf of the students and staff of the school. She also thanked her for future contributions towards the completion of the school’s music room and sickbay and also for the extension of the school’s library.

A wheelchair and a pair of crutches were also donated to the Urban League of Edinboro and Ottley Hall. This community based Organisation has been established since 2005. They offer programmes such as sports, education and health for the youths of the community. Sean Frederick, Chairman, thanked Minister Baptiste for remembering the Organisation with this generous donation. He also said that the recipients of these items will be grateful for the donation.

Minister Baptiste also donated two wheelchairs, two walkers and a stroller to members of the community. On May 10th, Minister Baptiste plans to donate four crutches to other deserving members in the society.
