Gospel Fest climaxes this weekend
SVG Gospel Fest 2009 will officially climax this weekend with two nights of National Gospel Showcases at the Victoria Park on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 7.00 pm.{{more}}
The showcases will feature the best of St. Vincent and the Grenadines from the various zonal preliminaries held around the country during the month and will see presentations in music, song, dance, drama, sermonette and comedy.
Scheduled to appear will be the outstanding artistes from the various zones, including KLT Dancers, Junior Kelly, Kara, Methodist Dramatists, Super Kidz and the SBGC Choir.
The performances from local artistes will be complemented by international gospel artistes Jason Mighty of Jamaica and Vincentian born Papa Das, now residing in the Virgin Islands. Jason Mighty, who is popularly known for his big hit âKetch ah Fireâ, is promising Vincentians a memorable performance, while Papa Das, who is looking forward to performing in front of his many fans, says for persons attending the shows: âIt will be a night to rememberâ.
Minister of Culture René Baptiste and chairman of the Gospel Fest Committee Fidel Taylor will give official addresses, along with the major sponsors.
SVG Gospel Fest, now into its seventh year, is being celebrated under the theme: âRejoice in the Lordâ. Given the growing popularity of the festival, the committee is expecting a large turnout at the Victoria Park.
