Chateaubelair man shot in face at home
One week after being shot outside his home in Sharpes Village, Chateaubelair, Gregory âJomoâ Laborde is still a patient at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.{{more}}
Iesha Pierre, Labordeâs girl friend told SEARCHLIGHT that on Sunday, April 6th, at about midnight, she and 35-year-old Laborde had just returned from a drive.
She said they had just driven into the yard and when the vehicle came to a stop, a gunman in dark clothing including a hooded top came up to the driverâs side and began shooting.
One bullet caught Laborde; it entered the right side of his face, and is lodged in his left cheek. Laborde was rushed to the Chateaubelair Hospital, where he received emergency treatment before being transferred to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) in Kingstown.
When SEARCHLIGHT caught up with Laborde on the male surgical ward of the MCMH, he was surrounded by his many relatives. He told Searchlight that he has never shot or attempted to kill anyone, so he doesnât know why he was shot. âI live in the love of family, and that is whatâs keeping me,â he said.
Laborde underwent surgery on Thursday, April 9th, to remove the bullet, and he is grateful for all the support he has been getting.
Around 12:40 a.m on the same morning of the shooting, Terrance Isaacs, a 19-year-old Sharpes village man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting. He has since been released on bail.
