As he prepares to attend the fifth Summit of the Americas conference in Port of Spain, Trinidad, from April 17-19, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves said that the approach being taken by US president Barack Obama in relation to North Korea and Iran should be afforded to Cuba.

Calling Cuba “the last remaining principal cold war issue which has fractured the hemispheric family,” Dr Gonsalves called for healing.

Dr Gonsalves said that an open dialogue between the two countries is the sensible approach, and this approach is both necessary and desirable in “our hemisphere”.

The Prime Minister will lead the discussion on “Democratic Governance in public security” at the summit at the request of host, Trinidadian Prime Minister Patrick Manning. (KJ)
