Vincentian Government urges US to hold dialogue with Cuba
The government of St Vincent and the Grenadines is urging the United States of America and Cuba to hold discussions âwithout preconditionsâ to resolve the issues that exist between them.{{more}}
As he prepares to attend the fifth Summit of the Americas conference in Port of Spain, Trinidad, from April 17-19, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves said that the approach being taken by US president Barack Obama in relation to North Korea and Iran should be afforded to Cuba.
Calling Cuba âthe last remaining principal cold war issue which has fractured the hemispheric family,â Dr Gonsalves called for healing.
Dr Gonsalves said that an open dialogue between the two countries is the sensible approach, and this approach is both necessary and desirable in âour hemisphereâ.
The Prime Minister will lead the discussion on âDemocratic Governance in public securityâ at the summit at the request of host, Trinidadian Prime Minister Patrick Manning. (KJ)
