‘We Ting’ donates to Rodney King
The âHairoun We Ting Promotionsâ group has made a donation to kidney failure patient Rodney King as part of the groupâs efforts to give back to the community.{{more}}
A cheque for $1000 was handed over to Rodneyâs mother Roselle King at the KFC branch on Grenville Street on Tuesday, March 31, 2009.
Speaking to Searchlight, member of the promotional group Juliano Isaacs said that the donation was one way in which We Ting promotions chose to give back to the community. âWe Ting is not just about making money. Itâs about reaching out to the community,â he said. Another member of the group, Christopher Jones, better known as 2Kool Chris, said that âWe Tingâ focuses on the fun of hanging out with friends. âWe bringing back the love of liming,â he said.
We Ting Promotions are famous for their frequent lime nights at the Bay View Car Park and âBlockoâ style parties in various communities.
A Bay View Car Park lime was held in aid of Rodney King on Wednesday, March 25, where persons paid a small fee, with proceeds going towards Rodney for assistance with his medical expenses.
Rodney will receive a kidney from his father Derrick James. An operation is scheduled to take place by the end of April or early May, and is set to be done by the National Organ Transplant Unit, at the Eric Williams Medical Centre, in Trinidad. (OS)
