The brief handing over ceremony took place on Tuesday, 31 March, 2009 at the local office of the OAS in Kingstown.

The Caribbean Sustainable Energy Programme, a project implemented by the OAS Department of Sustainable Development, has other contributing organizations and seeks to increase the sustainability of the energy sector in the Caribbean by improving Governance and Management of the sector. It is funded by the European Commission.

The computer equipment donated includes a business notebook computer and a colour LaserJet multifunction printer. Receiving the equipment on behalf of the SVG Energy Unit, Director Leonard Deane expressed his gratitude to the OAS for their contribution. He added that the contribution came at a timely moment as the SVG Energy Unit is in the final stages of establishing an office in Pauls Avenue.

The CSEP project will be implemented from November 2008 to October 2011. It will support energy initiatives in several Caribbean countries including Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, The Bahamas and St. Vincent and the Grenadines amoung others.(OS)
