Participants from thirteen Caribbean territories rounded up their final session of a five-day study visit to this country on Friday, February 20th, as part of the Eastern Caribbean Trading Agriculture and Development (ECTAD) workshop.{{more}}

The workshop saw that more than 20 farmers’ representatives engaging in visits to farms in the rural communities, as well as group sessions at the Kingstown Methodist Church Hall.

ECTAD is a non- profit, non governmental farmer-based development organization whose objective is the capacity building of rural farmers in an effort to improve their quality of life.

The seminar is being sponsored by the Technical Centre of Agriculture and Rural Development (CTA), an arm of the European Union.

This week’s seminar looked at a number of key issues affecting farmers, including constraints, resources, and strategies faced by its members.

The organization’s five-day workshop got started on Monday, February 16th, with an official opening ceremony at the Church Hall.

Chairman of the organization, Jethro Greene, along with Minister of Agriculture Montgomery Daniel, Industry Minister Dr Jerrol Thompson, Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace, President of the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce Angus Steele, and Director of the Caribbean Farmers Network Paul James all addressed the opening.
