Woman worried that ex-lover may harm her

“I am worried about my life.”

Those were the tearful words of Roxanne Collis of Campden Park who said that she believes that a former lover is out to harm her.{{more}}

Collis explained to SEARCHLIGHT that she was in a five-year abusive relationship with Oswald Matthews, which ended in 2005.

She said that after she ended the relationship, Matthews tried on several occasions to get her back but she resisted his advances.

In July of 2005, Matthews went calling at Collis’ Campden Park home and when she refused to speak to him, jumped through an open window and attacked her.

Collis ended up sustaining a stab womb to her stomach which she said her doctor said would have been fatal, if it was any deeper.

Matthews served 16 months of a two-year sentence for malicious wounding and assault from July 18, 2006 to November 16, 2007.

Now, Collis, a mother of two teenage sons, says that Matthews is harassing her and she wants it to be known.

Collis said that she has made several reports to both the Kingstown and Questelles Police stations and has also applied for a protection order.

“I just want him to leave me alone and have nothing to do with me. I don’t want to speak to him, I don’t want anything to do with him,” she said.

Several efforts by SEARCHLIGHT to contact Matthews proved futile.
