The organisers of the Saint Lucia Music Awards announced that the show will not take place this year as scheduled. Instead, organisers are working on expanding the event to include all the islands of the OECS.{{more}}
The new focus coincides with HMSâ evolution to a regional body – ECCO. Organisers believe that the formation of an Eastern Caribbean Music Awards will facilitate the further reach and expansion of music. Artistes are also expected to benefit from the creation of networking opportunities and from the additional international exposure which a regional awards event will bring.
The first Eastern Caribbean Music Awards will be held in 2010. The show will be produced by Accela Marketing, in collaboration with the Eastern Caribbean Collective Organization for Music Rights (ECCO) Inc. and musiciansâ organizations across the region, including the Saint Lucia Association of Musicians and Performers (SLAMP), a co-organizer of last yearâs St. Lucia Music Awards.
