The event took place at the new NIS headquarters at Upper Bay Street in Kingstown.

The gathering saw Information Technology Technician Dane Nichols being adjudged the Employee of the Year, over a number of co-workers, by what appeared to be a close margin.

Nichols and his co-workers received accolades from their bosses, who indicated that their employees help management to execute the plans and polices of the Board of the NIS.

Executive Director Reginald Thomas lauded his staff for the work during 2008, claiming that the more than 75 persons under his charge gave second to none service of which he is proud.

Lennox Bowman, Chairman of the Board of Directors, thanked and praised the management and staff for protection and stability that is provided in every walk of Vincentian life.

Following the dinner and awards ceremony, those in attendance were entertained by the multi-talented staff members in music, song and poetry.
