Taiwanese Ambassador Lee attends Mustique Music Festival

Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Leo Lee and his wife, Ivy, visited Mustique last Wednesday as guests of businessman Basil Charles, organizer of the Mustique Blues Festival. The main purpose for the visit was to attend the 2009 Mustique Festival, and Ambassador Lee not only enjoyed the remarkable performances of great artistes from around the world, but also was also deeply touched by the spirit of the Festival.{{more}}

Ambassador Lee, admires Charles for his efforts to continuously hold the Festival to fund the Basil Charles Educational Foundation, which helps provide secondary education for underprivileged children in the country.

In expressing Taiwan’s support to those under funded children, Ambassador Lee made a donation of EC$1,000 each to the Basil Charles Educational Foundation and the Mustique Educational Trust, and further pledged that the Embassy will work closely with Charles to help children who are in need in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

During his short visit to Mustique, Ambassador Lee also visited the Mustique Company as well to further the discussions regarding how to promote fruit planting, such as Dragon Fruit, on Mustique. In this regard, Lee invited Ty Kovach, Operations Manager of the Mustique Company, to visit Orange Hill Farm, operated by Taiwan Technical Mission, to gain more information.

Ambassador Lee promised that the Embassy and Technical Mission will offer the necessary assistance and technical support.
