Garraway, a finalist in the Digicel “Live Free For A Year” promotion, was unable to make the trip to the mainland for the draw, so she asked Johnson to represent her.

He was one of the 10 finalists who, along with friends and well-wishers, gathered at Grenadine House on Tuesday, January 27, for the event which was aired live on radio and television.

The finalists were randomly selected from a pool of persons who had taken part in the promotion, by either purchasing a new handset, topping up over $25, or clearing their bills.

Grand prize winner Garraway had purchased a new handset to qualify for the draw.

Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT the day after the draw, Garraway indicated that she was pleased with her new-found income, which she said will help with the bills and other expenses.

Second placed winner was Vaughn Holder, whose phone was purchased for him on behalf of his mother during the November 14th to January 23rd competition.

Holder will collect EC$2,400 a month for a year.

Third place went to Rayshaun Shallow, who had purchased credit for his phone. He will receive EC$1,800 for a year.

All three winners had made their transactions at The Cell on Halifax Street in Kingstown.

The other seven finalists did not walk away from the draw empty handed; they won cell phones, camera and I-pods.

Digicel Marketing Manager Juno Deroche, speaking at the end of the draw, thanked customers for participating in the promotion, and indicated that Digicel customers can look forward to other promotions from her network during the year. (JJ)
