SEARCHLIGHT understands that a microwave oven was stolen, among other items, and that the office of the Permanent Secretary was ransacked. A reliable source also informed SEARCHLIGHT that this is the fourth time that that Ministry has fallen victim to burglars.

When contacted, Minister of Telecommunications Dr Jerrol Thompson said he was aware of the matter, and said that he did not wish to comment on the matter. An effort was also made to speak with Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Shirla Francis. Francis said that they were in the process of making checks to other parts of the office to ascertain if any other items were removed. She further stated that the police were investigating the matter and declined to comment further.
