Four cruise ships usher in New Year

St. Vincent and the Grenadines welcomed four cruises liners to its shores on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1st, 2009.{{more}}

The Aida Aura, Ventura, Ocean Dream and Ocean Village 2 ships called at Port Kingstown.

The ships were estimated to have a total capacity of 7200 passengers and were entertained at the Cruise Terminal by the Syphonix Steel Orchestra from Questelles and the RSVG Police Force Band. They were also treated with a cultural package and samples of local cuisine compliments the Ministry Of Tourism, whose staff was on duty to also provide tourism information.

Cruise calls to the destination continued throughout the weekend of January 2nd, 2009, and into this week, with calls from the Windsurf, Ventura, Ocean Village, Royal Clipper and Grand Princess Ships.

The 2008/2009 Cruise season opened on October 20th, 2008, and is expected to culminate in June 2009 with a total of 196 calls to St. Vincent, Bequia, Mayreau, and the Tobago Cays.
