Headteacher donates to Sunshine School, Bequia

Frequent trips to the Grenadine island of Bequia and a meeting with Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne prompted Sue Bourne, the Headteacher of the Avenue School for Children with Special Needs in Reading England, to make a donation to the Sunshine School for Children with Special Needs in Bequia.{{more}}

Sir Frederick, speaking at a brief handing over ceremony at Government House on Wednesday, indicated that Bourne, through her school, had sent a cheque for the equivalent of EC $10,000 for the Port Elizabeth based institution.

The 25-year-old school had received donations from Bourne in the past on previous visits, but not of such magnitude.

Accepting on behalf of the Sunshine School, teacher Clerise Derrick thanked the Avenue School for the donation, which she said would benefit them in a special way. (JJ)
