The event, which saw performances from various local artistes, was used as a party launch for Digicel’s latest promotion dubbed: “Live free with Digicel; Making your wishes come true”.

Officially launched on Tuesday, November 11, at the Cobblestone Rooftop Restaurant, the latest campaign aims to address the current negative financial situation affecting persons worldwide.

Subscribers who top up $25 or more, purchase new handsets and keep their postpaid accounts up to date are entered in a draw to win EC$5000, EC$2500 or EC$1000 monthly for a year. Also, if you purchase a scratch card and it spells the word FREE, you become an instant winner of EC$5000, while there are also scratch cards with the letters F,R,E on the market. Spell FREE with these cards and you win an instant EC$1000. The FREE winners are also entered in the draw for the main prize as well as the consolation prizes mentioned below.

Top up $10 or more and have the chance to win prizes which include EC$1000, television sets, DVD players, handsets, game systems, stereos, Ipod’s and other items.

The live free promotion ends on January 18, while the draw for the Live Free for a year Campaign will be done on January 23.

During the launch party on Friday, persons were entertained by Digicel Rising Star 2005, Kioyka Cruickshank, who thanked the Vincentian public as well as Digicel for their support. Cruickshank performed three songs, “Oh Holy Night” and two others: “Counting” and “Paradise”, which are songs from her album written by her uncle. Other performances came from the energetic soca artistes Alla-G and Zola, who effectively helped to endorse the Live free with Digicel; Making your wishes come true campaign.

Marketing Executive Edmund Joachim, apart from handing out numerous scratch cards, also used the opportunity to explain why Digicel’s promotions are always, as their tagline says, bigger and better.

A release from Digicel said: “Our promotions are bigger because every year we try to increase the amount of prizes we give to customers, and for the coming months, we will be trying our best to ease the squeeze because we know the problems that persons are facing; it is better because the prizes are practical and you have more chances of winning as the promotions are opened to just our local customers as each market is catered for in a different way.”

The gathering at Heritage Square was also introduced to the entire local staff of the telecommunications giant by Master of Ceremonies/Comedian Maurice Horne. Country Manager Sonia Polius thanked persons for supporting Digicel and promised to always have the public in mind when doing business.

Digicel’s Mascot Martian Marty King took over the role of Santa Claus and distributed numerous prizes to the welcoming crowd, while a number of persons took the stage to give their version of why Digicel is the Bigger Better Network.
