VIncy Flavours chefs, bartenders rewarded
The hard work of the chefs and bartenders who participated in the Vincy Flavours competition has not gone unnoticed.
They were rewarded by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Hotel and Tourism Association (SVGHTA) for their efforts on Wednesday, September 17, at the Paradise Inn.{{more}}
Taking home the Master Entrée award was Anesta Browne from the Xcape restaurant. She won a computer and free Internet for one month compliments Cable & Wireless. Browne also won the award for best use of callaloo and herbs. Colin James of the Young Island Resort received the second placed award, while Ronnie Browne of the Raffles Resort received the third award. He also won the award for the spirit of the competition.
In the Senior Entrée category Gail- Ann Porter of Gailâs Annâs Catering took the first prize award. She also won the best use of yam award. Shorne Johnson of Raffles Resort took the second award, while Rodal Miller of Young Island Resort received the third award.
Janine John was the Junior Entrée champ while her twin sister Janelle John won the award for most innovative dish and took the second place award in the Junior Dessert category.
Ianti Sam and Joemillia Jackson placed second and third, respectively, in the junior entrée category.
Janelle John received the first place award in the junior dessert category and Nell Cromwell got the third award.
Uz Hall of Raffles Resort mixed his way into first place in the Sunset rum bar competition. Neil DaSilva of Young Island received the second award, while Gomez Clarke of Heron Hotel/ Nice foods walked away with the third prize.
Minister of Tourism Hon Glen Beache in his remarks said the Vincy Flavours competition is one that is long over due. He noted that there is a need to find creative ways of preparing our local dishes. The Minister commended the association for there efforts and pledged his ministryâs continued support.

Vincentians can look forward to this yearâs Vincy Flavours competition on November 22. (VM)
