The newsletter was officially introduced to the public at a ceremony held on Wednesday, October 1st.
In his address, newly appointed Principal Renton was full of praise for the students and teachers who had dedicated their time to seeing this project come to fruition. Renton related that it helped him to learn a great deal about the school and its students. He also expressed how pleased he was with the wealth of talent exhibited. The students, under guidance of their teachers, did the majority of the submissions.
Representing the Saunders family, Garth Saunders congratulated the students and staff on their achievement. In his remarks, Saunders said that the newsletter is an efficient way to document what is happening at the school to be shared with future generations. He also pressed upon the students to follow in the footsteps of their namesake and strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives – not only academic.
Kay Martin-Jack, representative from the Ministry of Education, stated that the newsletter is a great way to promote the diversity of the studentâs talents. âIâm sure it is exciting to see your work in print!â she enthused. Martin-Jack further expressed that the newsletter has the potential to foster a good relationship between the school and the public, by giving them an inside view of what goes on at the Thomas Saunders Secondary.
Copies of the newsletter are available from the school. (JSV)
