October is Youth Month
The Youth Affairs Department in the Ministry of National Mobilisation, Social Development, Youth and Sports will once again host the Annual Youth Month celebrations in October. During the month, the focus will be on the entrepreneurial potential of the youth, while recognizing their achievements.{{more}}
Activities for the month will be held under the theme âCaribbean Youth: Building a legacy of peace and sustainable developmentâ.
The highlight of the month will be the Annual Youth Awards, which will be held on October 30th, and which were extended in 2007 from fifteen to thirty to include, among others, Youth in Agriculture, Music, Dance, Song, Drama, Trade, Science and Technology and Tourism.
Other activities to mark the month include: Commonwealth Caribbean Youth Day on September 30th; a Youth Heritage Tour; Youth led services and prayers for the nation at all churches on Sunday, October 5; Community Staff Nurse Capacity Building in life skills seminar on Tuesday, October 7th; and a Youbet training seminar on Union Island on Friday, October 10th .
