JOCV volunteers arrive in SVG

Three new Japanese volunteers arrived in St.Vincent and the Grenadines on September 23, 2008. This brings the number of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOVC) working here to 14.{{more}}

The volunteers made a courtesy call to the Government House on Wednesday, September 24. They are Chie Takema, assigned to the Ministry of Agriculture, to be dispatched at Orange Hill as a Community Development Officer; Sayaka Azuma, also assigned to the Ministry of Agriculture, to be dispatched at the soon to be completed Owia Fish Landing Complex as a Community Development Officer, and Kiyo Matsuwaka, assigned to the Ministry of Health and the Environment, to be dispatched at the Mental Health Centre as an Occupational Therapist.

JOCV has provided trained and qualified volunteers to St.Vincent and the Grenadines for five years in a wide variety of technical fields. Many of them work in the areas of agriculture, fisheries, education, health and social development.
