DJ Kal receives honorable mention

Despite not being one of the top two to qualify for the regional finals of the Heineken Green Synergy DJ Competition, Vincentian DJ Kal received honorable mention for his performance at the group finals, which took place in Barbados two weeks ago.{{more}}

Kal, real name Kalique Sutherland, missed out on the opportunity to make the October 26th finals in Curacao.

Instead, Bajan DJ Dirkmouse who placed first and runner up Grenadian DJ Top Sound will make the trip.

DJ Dirkmouse outshone six others to win group B.

Sutherland won this country’s finals at the Aquatic Club on September 13th , taking $3,000 in the process, and the chance to be this country’s representative at the event.

According to reports, Kal enthralled those present at Jumbies, an open air venue in Christ Church Barbados with his lightning fast turntable tricks, selections and scratching.

This is Kal’s second time at the group finals, having won the local leg last year.

He is said to have given a better account of himself this time around.(JJ)
