New energy drink to be launched soon

A guarana-based energy drink, made by Barbadian company ‘All Natural Beverages’, is set to be introduced on the Vincentian market, joining a host of others. However, unlike the competitors, the product is being promoted as ‘all natural’ and free from chemical preservatives.{{more}}

Guarana Natural Drink will be officially launched on September 26th, 2008, with an island-wide motorcade handing out free samples of the beverage. The promoters, Samuel Distributors, also intend to conduct sampling in the major supermarkets and other stores.

The product is already on sale in St. Lucia, Antigua and Martinique, and, according to Sales Director Andrew Samuel, is doing “…very well” on those markets.

Slightly carbonated, the beverage is made from a concentrate derived from the seeds of the guarana plant, Paullinia Cupana. The plant grows in Venezuela and the Amazon region of Brazil. Information taken from www.guarana.com shows that guarana contains guaranine. This ingredient is chemically identical to caffeine – the main reason for the drink’s energy-boosting qualities.(JSV)
