Georgetown gets a taste of C&W service
12.SEPT.08
Last Friday and Saturday, the Cable & Wireless Community Extravaganza moved to Georgetown to Mrs. Henryâs Cook shop. The focus on Friday was mainly sales, and to quote one excited customer, âCable & Wireless is definitely leading the way in decentralizing telecommunications.{{more}} Imagine I am in my house and people come knock on my door to serve me. This is GREAT!â
Saturday was special, and this was evident by the large turn out by persons from as far as Byera Hill and Dickson villages. The special attractions were games like ball in a hole, punchboard, dips and dominoes. Each customer buying a service was given an opportunity to win several prizes.
The event also saw entertainment by Fireman Hooper, of the Vincy Soca Dans.
Cable & Wireless Manager of Customer Experience, Leslie Jack, commented that this exercise, which began one month ago, is turning out to be better than planned.
âWhen these events were conceptualized, we didnât believe that the people in the communities would have turned out in such large numbers to ask questions and purchase our services. We even went house to house to assist customers who had long standing bills with payment plans,â said Jack.
Community Extravaganza is a decentralization programme whereby staff of Cable & Wireless visit different communities weekly to take their products and services closer to the customers.
