The President of the Canouan Island Council (CIC), Albert Ollivierre, believes that the majority of Canouanites have a good relationship with the Canouan Resort Development Company (CRC).{{more}}
Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT when we visited the island earlier this week, Ollivierre said that while things are not perfect, the developers are in constant communication with the residents which augurs well for the resolution of any issue that may arise.
The CIC head said that he believes that there is a level of trust going forward, and is also very pleased with the contributions being made by the developers to their employees and the community, even though much of what they do isnât advertised.
In addition to the long list of developmental, infrastructural and educational contributions already made to the island by CRD, a recent press release indicated that a new list of projects was finalized between government and CRD officials at a meeting last month, as part of the Financing Agreement between the Government and the CRD.
The projects include the construction of a playing field / complex in the Friendship area at a cost of $540,000, a pan yard to the tune of $40,000, a Marine Resource Centre at $1.5 million and a bus terminal with stalls for vendors at $380,000.
Additionally, there are also plans to construct a secondary school, with the first phase catering for forms one to three. (KJ)
