Taiwan ambassador presents cheque to PM
As he handed over a cheque valued just over EC$4 million (US$1,506,584.33) to the government of St. Vincent and Grenadines, Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan, Leo Chen-Jan Lee (right in photo), said that his government remains committed to the strengthening of relationships between the two countries.{{more}}
Ambassador Lee presented the cheque at a press conference at Cabinet Room on Tuesday.
The money is part of the Civic Development Project fund which Taiwan gives to this country for the development of infrastructure in the local communities.
The fund was established in 1999 with a commitment of US$2 million per year and it was recently increased, at Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalvesâ request, to US$2.5 million per year.
The current agreement runs for three years from 2009.
