The day after the renowned Carib Great Race, run between Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, August 23, two vessels were reported missing, and rewards offered for the vesselsâ safe return.
After days of sightings in one location or the other, SEARCHLIGHT understands that a Mayreau fisherman saw what turned out to be one of the vessels on a Mayreau beach.
No one was in the boat.
The police were informed and the vessel was carried to Union Island and last Saturday the Coast Guard brought the vessel up to the Coast Guardâs Calliaqua base.
The boat was delivered to its owner last Monday in good condition.
A newspaper report from Trinidad indicates that the other missing vessel was found in Grenada.
SEARCHLIGHT couldnât confirm if the reward of EC$3000 that was offered for the vesselâs safe return was paid or if any arrangement had been made to do so.
It is still unclear how the vessel ended up in Mayreau. (KJ)
