The school’s top performer Urshammah Henry and three others who had creditable performances spoke to Searchlight on Wednesday, August 3.

Eighteen-year-old Henry has made her school very proud with her CSEC results. Henry passed eight of the nine subjects she wrote, with excellent grades.

The Murray Village resident, who said she started studying since she was in fourth form, received grade ones in Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Office Administration, English A, Social Studies, Human and Social Biology and grade two’s in History and English B.

Henry is of the belief that the institution you attend should not determine how you perform academically. “Some of the students have it in their mind that because they go to a certain school persons expect them to perform a certain how academically.”

She also believes that some of the teachers displayed the same attitudes as the students. “I think that some of the teachers really should put a lot more effort into the performance of the students.”

Henry is urging the students at her alma mater to put in that “extra push, to perform well like some of the other schools”.

The budding Lawyer will be attending the Community College where she would be commencing studies in Law, History, English and Sociology.

Clive Pierre passed five of the seven subjects he sat. He received grade three’s in English A, Social Studies, Human Social Biology, Food and Nutrition and a grade two in Home Management.

The 19-year-old is looking forward to attending the Technical College to pursue studies in Mechanical Technology.

Sharika John and Lenniece Layne both had passes in English A, Social Studies, Principles of Business, Office Administration and Human and Social Biology. Their next step is to attend the Technical College where they would be doing Business Administration. (VM)
