While most were winding down the peaceful Sunday evening, Lynch was grimacing in a great deal of pain.
Police report that Lynch had earlier reported a matter about someone discharging a firearm at him, and later that evening around 6:45 p.m. he was shot.
Speaking from the balcony of the Male Surgical Ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in Kingstown on Wednesday, Lynch said that he has been marked for death for quite some time now. Still wincing in pain, the Texier Road resident related what happened to Searchlight.
He said that at about 6pm that day, he went to Middle Street in Layou to collect something from someone. On his return, Lynch said he was about to cross a river to get to his home when he heard three gunshots. âOne ah de bullets hit me, and when I look I see ah man pon de bank and I say way mek you shoot me and me ainât do you nothing?â
Lynch stated that his girlfriend came to his rescue and carried him to a nearby Baptist Church before they sought medical treatment at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. âI canât even move my fingers properly, it mussa have nerve damage all thing,â Lynch added. The bullet went through his back and exited his chest.
âI really fed up of this. this is about four times now I getting shoot and I canât take it anymore,â lamented the aching Lynch. He also pleaded for the police to do something about the matter before the situation gets out of hand. âI want to know what the police is doing with this. Is not the first time this happening to me now and them ainât doing anythingâ.
Just last year, Lynch said he was shot on the left side of his body, following a dispute with the same person. He also stated that in 2003, he was shot with a shotgun, which left several permanent scars about his body.
Up to press time on Wednesday, no arrest had been made in the matter and Layou Police were said to be continuing investigations into the shooting.
