The College has just received approval from the UWI Board for Undergraduate Studies for this new development.
It means that students who have already graduated from the programme with a grade point average of 2.7, and who complete the UWIâs introductory courses in mathematics and statistics, can enter the UWI Hospitality and Tourism degree progamme.
The same arrangement applies to students who enter the 2008 level three hospitality studies programme of the Community College.
The course will be taught at the Division of Technical and Vocational Education. Under a Two plus Two arrangement between the UWI and the Community College, the students who qualify will pursue a two year programme on island before attending the UWI campuses at the College of the Bahamas, Cave Hill or St. Augustine, for the final two years of study.
Dean of the Division of Technical and Vocational Education, Joseph Mapp, has said that he is pleased with this development.
Mapp said that in addition to preparing for the world of work, the students who qualify can now access higher learning at the UWI.
